Find answers to common questions about PuriFibre

PuriFibre is a functional food designed to support and rebalance your gut microbiome by helping beneficial microbes grow and function more effectively. After completing a 60 Day Repair course as directed, your gut should be more able to utilise fibre from your everyday diet, which helps naturally produce beneficial compounds such as short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). You may see significant positive benefits soon after starting PuriFibre, but remember that consistency is a key part of what makes the prebiotic fibre in PuriFibre work well! If your diet remains low in dietary fibre after finishing your pack, you may gradually notice a reduction in effects over time as your gut returns to its baseline state. If that happens, you can simply repeat a 20 Day Reset to help restart the process, which is why we have designed the order options so you can subscribe for a new pack at whatever time interval you desire.

Fibre can influence how quickly things move through your digestive system, which means it may affect how some medications are absorbed if taken at the same time. This is similar to how many foods can influence medication effectiveness. The fibre used in this product, partially hydrolysed guar gum (PHGG), does not bind to medications directly, but may indirectly affect how they dissolve or are released during digestion. For most people and most common medications, this is not an issue. However, to be safe, we recommend taking this product at least 1 – 2 hours apart from your medication. If you are taking prescription or time-sensitive medications, it’s best to check with your pharmacist or healthcare professional.

Not in the way many people worry about. Some fibre supplements, such as psyllium husk–based products, can reduce the absorption of certain vitamins and minerals because they form a thick gel in the gut that slows or blocks absorption. The fibre used PuriFibre - partially hydrolysed guar gum (PHGG), behaves differently. It has low viscosity and does not bind supplements directly.

Research shows that PHGG is generally absorption-friendly and, in some cases, may even improve the absorption of minerals such as iron, calcium, and magnesium by supporting a healthier gut environment. For most water-soluble vitamins and supplements, it has little to no negative impact.

We recommend not exceeding 2 shots per day. Most people experience optimal gut support at this intake when PuriFibre is consumed with sufficient water intake throughout the day.

If 2 shots per day are well tolerated but you feel your gut health has not improved, we recommend increasing your water intake. Adequate hydration is essential for the product to work effectively in the gut.

Remember that PuriFibre is a functional food, not a medicine. Research indicates that the key ingredient used in PuriFibre is safe at higher intake levels, beyond equivalent to 5 shots a day; however, we recommend gradual intake increases and pairing with increased water consumption to minimise the risk of digestive discomfort.

If symptoms persist, individual tolerance may vary, and seeking professional dietary advice is recommended.

Our cardboard packaging and protective materials are fully recyclable or compostable.

Our bottles are made from high-quality borosilicate glass, the same durable glass commonly used in laboratory equipment. We chose this material because the bottles are designed to be reused many times, and from a sustainability perspective, reuse should be prioritised over single-use recycling.

If you are in Perth, you can return your empty PuriFibre pack (bottles, lids, and carton) to us at our pop-up stalls and we will reuse them. Returned bottles are thoroughly cleaned and re-sterilised using hospital-grade, HACCP-compliant procedures to ensure safety. Lids are cleaned and pressed into aluminium sheets for recycling. We also encourage customers to reuse the bottles at home or donate them to schools, charities, or universities, where they can be used for science demonstrations, arts and crafts, seed germination, or other educational activities.

Because borosilicate glass melts at a different temperature from standard container glass, it cannot be processed through Australia’s normal household glass recycling system. Recycling guidance indicates that borosilicate glassware should generally be disposed of in general waste rather than the recycling bin. If reuse is not possible, the bottles can be safely disposed of in landfill.

Our aluminium caps are also very small, which makes them difficult for most recycling facilities to capture effectively, so they typically end up in general waste as well. For safety reasons, the caps are not reused.

In the future, we hope to introduce a return-by-post program so customers can send packaging back to us free of charge, allowing the bottles to be reused many times, exactly as they were designed to be used.

If you notice constipation, it’s usually a sign that your body needs more water. Fibre works best when it’s well hydrated, and simply drinking more water will often fix the issue. If you’re still uncomfortable after increasing your fluid intake, try taking a smaller amount and slowly building up over time. Everyone’s fibre tolerance is different, so going at your own pace helps your body adjust comfortably.

Our founders handcraft, fill, and pack every bottle themselves, which means we intentionally scale slowly to ensure quality is never compromised. This can sometimes lead to limited availability, but it allows us to maintain the standard we care deeply about. Thanks to your support, we’re introducing new equipment to help automate parts of the process and will be increasing production soon, while keeping the same level of care in every bottle.

Our shelf life is based on real-time testing conducted with an accredited NATA laboratory. Rather than relying on estimates or extended assumptions, we only state a shelf life that has been fully validated for safety and quality.

Protecting the safety of our product and the health of our customers is our highest priority, which is why we have taken a careful, evidence-led approach to shelf stability by testing for things like mould, E. coli and Total Colony Forming units before listing the Use By date.
